HAVING mastered the technique of diving, and become proficient in the
use of the various types of breathing apparatus, a man or woman can in no way
be guaranteed a living. Unfortunately, no one is prepared to pay a man to dive,
but only for the work done underwater. If a man shows little practical initiative
out of the water, he will be more than useless on the bottom, and if he is too
superior for manual labouring in his own element, the romance of 'underwater
work' will soon begin to fade
