This was my first lot of equipment, the valve was new and I remember it cost £ 14 which was a lot of money in those days. The depth gauge was a Bowden tube type and you had to make sure there was no water inside the flimsy plastic tube before you made your descent by taking it out and giving it a good shake. No boots yet, and the buoyancy jacket had a little CO2 cartridge (you know the type you would use in a soda siphon), if you tried to use it well it wouldn’t work.
